Chair's Message

 

        This department was established in 2002 and is mainly dedicated to cultivating management talents in leisure-related and sport-related industries.


        In order to complete the professional competence of the students in related fields, the course planning of this department is based on a solid business management course, with leisure management and sports management as the core of the professional, and sports technology learning courses. The department also encourages students to study the second specialty to cope with the employment trends across fields. Our school has many study opportunities with double majors, auxiliary departments and various courses. Students can obtain sufficient learning resources according to their personal interests and needs.
 

        The practical experience in the workplace helps students understand the practical scene early, discover the direction of career development, help the connection of employment, and reduce the time cost of unemployed and career exploration. Therefore, strengthening the interaction between the department and the industry, providing students with internship opportunities in related companies to achieve unity of learning and application, is also a key development project of the department.

Department of Leisure and Sport Management

 

           Established in 2002, the Department of Leisure and Sport Management aims to equip students with the knowledge, skills and capacities needed to be professional managers in the fields of leisure and sport management.

 

           Our programs are designed to develop students' specialty in leisure and sport management. In order to enhance students' competence and prepare for their future career, the program integrates theories from key areas relevant to the field of Leisure and Sport Management into the curriculum. These include the fundamentals of business administration, as well as two major areas, leisure management and sport management. In addition, the Department also provides courses relating to sports health and activities, opportunities of community service, practice in service-learning courses, as well as a diversity of internships in leisure, tourism, and sport enterprises.

 

           Students are expected to take foundation courses offered by the Business School and are encouraged to use this opportunity to apply for double majors or other non-degree bachelor programs in order to expand their fields in study. Moreover, students are also offered opportunities to take international dual-degree programs with partner overseas institutes and universities.

 

           The Department of Leisure and Sport Management strongly encourages students to take advantages of the various internship opportunities that are available to them. As collaboration between the Department and corporations is the emphasis of the program, students can use this opportunity to paint the blueprint for their future career paths. It is also expected by the Department that students will be able to apply their off campus knowledge to their study courses.

 

           Our faculty offers a high level of research and teaching achievements which we consider is an important part of student development. We feel that both character development and learning attitude are vitally important for each student. We strive to create an excellent learnings environment for all students in order to achieve their future goals in leisure and sport related industries .

Future Perspectives

          In the next few years, the department will work hard in the following steps to make the department a well-known department of leisure sports and management at home and abroad.


1. Continue to hire academics and specialists with expertise and doctoral degrees to teach to enrich the faculty lineup.

2. Cooperate with the new site plan of the Three Gorges Campus, complete ball stadiums, gymnasiums, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, enrich teaching equipment, and make the school's hardware equipment first-class.

3. Strengthen the training of leisure sports managers, and give play to social service functions according to market needs.

4. Strengthen the academic development of leisure sports to enhance the academic atmosphere and make this department an international first-class department of leisure sports and management.

5. Strengthen international academic exchanges and exchange professors or students with well-known foreign universities.

6. Establish master and doctoral classes in the Department of Leisure Sports Management to complete the department's training program.
